Overview of Course

The degree allows you to engage with key theoretical ideas in the respective fields; to analyse different types of social and political problems of relevance to the world today; and to form balanced judgements. Developed by academics at LSE, this degree enables you to engage critically with contemporary issues and debates in the field of international relations. It is ideal for anyone wishing to understand the international aspects of global problems such as environmental degradation and economic globalisation. It also offers a broad understanding of the core literature and main theoretical issues in this field.

 

This programme develops skills in the analysis of key issues of contemporary society – for example, issues of order and stability, or relating to inequality and injustice. These skills include the ability to read critically and reflect on theories and practices, and to think creatively in order to produce well-crafted essays in your final examinations.

    Admissions Requirements

    Course Modules

    Admissions open for semesters commencing in January and September of every year. Ensure you allow adequate time for your application to go through the normal admission procedure of two weeks. Visit your nearest campus in time for securing a place in the programme.

    Mode of Study

    The programme is taught using face-to-face learning. Students will have access to IVY resources as well as University of London VLE to complete their studies/modules. Support will be provided by local tutors at IVY.

    Assesment for Course

    Aside from a few exceptions, each full course is examined by one three-hour unseen written examination and each half course by one two-hour unseen written examination. The assessment of some courses also involves the submission of coursework or a project – in these cases, details are included as part of the course syllabus.

     

    The written examinations take place on one occasion each year, normally commencing in May. These are held at established examination centres worldwide. You will be required to pay an examination centre fee each time you sit an exam.
