This course provides the practical skills and conceptual understanding required for managing in organisations. It will help you gain personal and management skills throughout your studies and in dedicated skills-related modules to help build your professional profile. As well as gaining an understanding of the world of business and management through practical case studies on a range of international organisations, you’ll also acquire research skills using academic and industry focused texts, articles and reports.
All modules are strongly career-focused and have been designed with industry experts. All the basic functional areas that are deemed to comprise the business discipline namely Marketing, Operations, Accounting, HRM, Business Strategy, Economics, and other Contemporary Issues are included and their relevance to the context of rapid contemporary change is covered in-depth. Therefore, in order to enrol in this degree, you don’t need to have a chosen career path in mind. However, when you graduate from this programme, you’ll do so as a well-rounded, highly employable and self-motivated individual ready to enter the work industry, in whichever pathway you choose.
We will consider you as an individual and take into account all elements of your application, not just your qualifications. We are looking for breadth and depth in your current studies and enthusiasm for the subject you wish to study. In order to achieve 16 years of education equivalence from Higher Education Commission Pakistan, it is essential to have completed 12 years of local education (Metric/Intermediate) or 8 O-levels and 3 A-levels. In other instances, you will normally need to have the following one of the following:
Admissions open for semesters commencing in January and September of every year. Ensure you allow adequate time for your application to go through the normal admission procedure of two weeks. Visit your nearest campus in time for securing a place in the programme.
The programme is taught using face-to-face learning. Students will have access to IVY tools and resources as well as Arden University’s iLearn/VLE to complete their studies/modules. Support will be provided by local and link tutors at IVY and AU.
Assessment takes a variety of forms, including essays and reports, portfolios, individual and group presentations (individually assessed), case studies, research proposals and exams. Many of the assessments tend to be focused on employability thus tend to be based on real case studies, project work, and other employability focused activities. Most units include elements of individual and group work to reflect the type of work undertaken in business and management. Assessment focuses on tasks that develop vocational skills, underpinned by subject knowledge, requiring higher levels of cognition in the later years of the course. Assessment becomes more nuanced and more demanding in Levels 5 & 6 with the expectation that students will be increasingly able to create their own subject specific knowledge.
